Because "Nothing's Better".....

I took the girls shopping the other day.  We had been on vacation and I was still off work a few more days.  We went up the road a bit to a neighboring town which has a really small mall.  We hit a few stores, got a few things for back to school and then were preparing to leave.  Lu Lu kept telling me she was firsty.  That is Lu Lu'ese for THIRSTY.  The nearest place was a Chik Fil A, so we headed there and rounded up some milkshakes for her firstiness.

We were leaving the mall and an elderly man held the door open for three of us.  As I passed him, I told him "thank you".  My thank you was followed by two more little thank you's.  Then we held the door for him to come thru the next set of doors.  In turn, he said "thank you" and we all said "your welcome".  He said "m'am those are some nice young girls you have there" and I said "thank you very much".  Lu Lu followed up with "and you're a nice young man".  It gave him quite the chuckle and it did me too!

Soon we were in the car and on our way.  Lib told me thanks for a great day and so did Lu.  Then Lib melted my heart when she said, "Nothing's better than a day spent with Mom!"  I was truly touched.  Lu then quickly told Lib "You should tell Chaddy that too when he takes you hunting or fishing....if you want to, Sissy".  It was truly sweet that Lu wanted to make sure Chaddy felt appreciated too.

We did have a really good day shopping which came on the heels of a great time at the beach.  There were several times at the beach when I got teary eyed seeing how big they've gotten, how unafraid they are now of the ocean and what unique little individuals they are.  Lu Lu reminds us daily that she is a "big girl" and she even shows us in so many ways.  She wanted to swim the entire time without her floaty and we knew without floaty she was only a dog paddle away from being under.  We did let her swim without the floaty only with us in the pool with her and only a few times.  We also make a trip to "The Track" each year.  It's a little amusement park with a few kiddie rides, go carts and putt-putt golf.  Both girls had reached new heights and were able to do some things at The Track that they weren't able to do or able to do alone last year.  So, there again I was faced with another moment reminding me of how much they've grown.

At least when I'm being constantly reminded of how big they are or how much they've grown, I'm also reminded that they are loving, caring, giving young girls and they show it to all those they come in contact with.....I'm so thankful to be a part of raising them, able to be responsible for them and to be a recipient of their love.  Because, there really is "nothing better"  !!!

WOW!!! Yellow! I didn't know you'd changed your design. It's PURTY!! :-) I'm getting a new design soon too. I think we got our new designs at the same time the last time, lol!!

Oh, and this is such a sweet story, and that picture is GORGEOUS! :-)

Okay, we totally shop at the same stores! I see so many pictures of your girls wearing the same outfits I have for my girls! I guess we have the same taste in clothes! The biggest difference is I don't think I could ever let my girls hair grow that long. One of my girls twirls her hair and would have her entire fist caught up in it and the other can't stand to have her hair brushed! But, Your girls are beautiful!

They are so gorgeous! You are very blessed to have them and I know you know that!

It shows what a great job you're doing in raising them. You should be very proud!

Thank you for sharing this with the Carnival of Family Life. Your post will be included in the July 30th edition at An Island Life.
